Essential Functions Serves as the Chief of Health Services for the Department of Corrections (IDOC). Serves as full-line supervisor. Serves as an external liaison. Establishes and maintains a statewide quality improvement program for medical services and monitors all contracts for medical services, in order to provide individuals with appropriate evaluation diagnosis and clinical care. Serves as a spokesperson for the department representing the Director, Assistant Director, and the Agency Medical Director before the court, Governor’s Office, legislature, officials from federal and state agencies, and various other organizations, the media, and public interest groups advocating, explaining, and interpreting new and revised health services policies and initiatives.
