The Logan County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for Part-Time and Full-time Correction Officers for our county jail. Pay, for a part-time position, is $17.00/hour, while starting salary for a full-time position is $43,571 (19.95/hour), with an increase on December first to $45, 314 and then after a one-year probationary period you’ll go to $56,401. ($12,830 raise within the first year) Full-time employment also comes with additional benefits to include: vacation, sick time, medical/dental/vision, and retirement. Jail staff work 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm & 6pm – 6am) and once hired you will be required to attend an 8-week training academy in Decatur, Illinois within 6 months of hired date. There is a State required exam at the end of the academy to finalize your certification. Additionally; fees for the National Testing exam will be reimbursed if hired by the Sheriff’s Office.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office serves the public offering a Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Civil Process, Court Security, and a Jail with a rated capacity of 65 inmates. The Sheriff's Office provides 24 hour law enforcement coverage and response to Logan County.
Logan County is located in central Illinois and has a population of approximately 29,245. The Sheriff's Office is responsible for patrolling approximately 619 square miles. Lincoln is the county seat. Logan County also includes the towns/villages of Atlanta, Beason, Broadwell, Burtonview, Chestnut, Cornland, Elkhart, Emden, Hartsburg, Lake Fork, Latham, Lawndale, Middletown, Mt. Pulaski, New Holland, Union, and a portion of San Jose.
